ParaData
At the core of Airborne Assault will be ParaData - the living history of The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces.
Visitors will have touch screen access to this Airborne Forces Museum database, a comprehensive digital record of all who have served.
ParaData will include searchable information on units, military decorations, and engagements such as Bruneval, Arnhem, Normandy, Suez, Falklands, Kosovo and Afghanistan with an A-Z guide to all campaigns. It will provide a definitive history - and a continually updated document - for serving and retired men, their families and descendants.
This 21st Century archive will also preserve for posterity in digital form precious material and recorded memories from veterans and serving soldiers.
It will be set in a special In Memoriam section of the Museum, with a quiet and respectfully subdued atmosphere. This will be a tribute to those who have served and given their lives on operations.
Through its innovative use of multimedia ParaData will seek to engage a younger audience, whether researching family history or for school education.
ParaData will also be accessible online, as well as on touch-screens at Airborne Assault, bringing the story of The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces to a worldwide audience.
